Genius Project
For the next few weeks we are doing the genius project. For this project you have to do/make something that benefits someone else. In my group are my two closest friends Nova and Billie and for our genius project we chose to do a staff lunch to thank all the staff at our school. The second thing we are doing is making cupcakes and giving then to the little kids at one of our local preschools. We will also read/play with the little kids! I think my group put a lot of thought into our two ideas!

Has Usain Bolt tested positive for covid-19?
Yes World-record sprinter and eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt HAS tested positive for the corona virus and is in self-quarantine at his home in Jamaica a week after celebrating his 34th birthday with a big, mask-free party! There were a number of famous sports stars including England footballer Raheem Sterling and West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle! Bolt won the 100 metres and 200 metres men’s gold medals at three Olympic Games from 2008-2016 and still holds the world record for both distances. Jamaica has had 1,413 Covid-19 cases and 16 deaths on the island of around three million people but there are concerns the number of cases may be rising!

My Enlargement
This week we have started enlargements the whole class got to pick anyone or anything to draw. I chose Mable Pines from Gravity Falls and one of my best friends Skylah is doing Mable's twin brother Dipper Pines! I enlarged her by a scale factor of 4. I think my drawing is quite accurate, I just need to touch up a few things! I really like how my drawing turned out! My next step is to colour her in!

My Kiwi report
A part of the kiwis structural adaptation is that they have whiskers also the kiwis structural feature is their colour enables them to blend with the undergrowth in the forest! Kiwis are the only birds in the world with nostrils at the end of their beck The kiwi has no tail feathers but they do have whiskers like a cat!
Kiwis used to be able to fly but over the years they didn’t need them as there were no land predators and as there were some birds that could be predators to them! When the humans first arrived they brought rats, stoats and possums with them. These animals live like kiwis on the ground. These animals eat kiwis and kiwi eggs and this is the reason kiwis are going extinct!Kiwis have lots of different functions in their body that make them more like mammals than birds!
These adaptations are not as effective as they used to be because of the introduction of rats and stoats to New Zealand. Kiwi are now endangered.

Ancient Egypt
Today Mrs P gave us several puzzles to do to work out what the topic was for this week! It took us awhile but we figured it out by working as a team! We had to make picture puzzles, solve anagrams, do a wordfind, solve maths problems, work out the country by its shape and then confirma our answer with the flag. Ancient Egypt is very interesting since it's been around for 1000's of years! This was a fun way to start the week.
